Eucalyptus Hill Reveal Part 03

The time has come - we're going over the last spaces of our Eucalyptus Hill project - the guest/powder bathroom, primary bathroom, and the space belovedly referred to as the 'snug.' We have covered the breakfast nook and kitchen, as well as the entry, living room, and dining room in these first two posts, but have a scroll to see how these spaces turned out!

This guest bathroom might be one of my favorite spots in this house! For how large it is, can you believe there used to be just one little pedestal sink in here, and that's it?!

It is a shallower bathroom overall, so we gave the sink more depth, and kept the rest of the cabinetry on the shallow side, and added a linen closet since this will serve both as a guest bathroom for overnight guests and a powder bathroom for visitors!

From this angle, you can see how close the door swing is, so keeping the cabinetry shallower was a necessity, but pushing the sink out gave us ample room for the faucet and gave the sink a sense of prominence, along with the organically shaped brass mirror above the vanity.

We utilized mixed metals here - the faucet, sconces, and door hardware in polished nickel, and the mirror and cabinet hardware in brass for a hint of warmth against this deep blue teal cabinetry. The mix of finishes allows for a more dynamic space and provides a lot of interest.

These clients decided halfway through the project that their bathroom needed to have lighted mirrors in the primary bathroom, and while we were bummed that we couldn't use the beautiful mirrors we had originally specified, these do look great and are very functional for them, so that's a win in my book!

We tiled the entire back wall all the way up to give that wall a bit of interest in texture, and to mirror the shower behind it.

You also get a small glimpse in the corner of the marble mosaic floor that has a really fun pattern that goes from the bathroom floor and into the shower as well!

You catch a glimpse of the shower in the mirrors here in this shot, and we used a warm taupe gray for this vanity that really complimented the veining throughout the countertop and the tile. If you need the paint recommendation, give Benjamin Moore Pashmina a try!

As we've mentioned before, these clients are in their golden years, and having grab bars in the shower was critical for the future. No one said they couldn't be beautiful too! They work well with the traditional plumbing fixtures we chose, and it's a comfort knowing they are set up for shower safety, now and in the years to come.

We continued the mixed metal look in this bathroom as well, mixing the brass sconces in with the polished nickel cabinet hardware, towel ring, and faucets. This sconce is a forever favorite of mine; the subtle curve of the arm just gets me every time!

This brings us to the 'snug,' which we had to ask the client for a lot of trust on! We ended up going with Benjamin Moore Raccoon Hollow, and everyone is still obsessed with the mood it creates. There was a lot of debate on whether or not the ceiling should be painted to match the wall color. There is rarely a time where going all in with a deeper color like this doesn't make the room feel more complete when it's on the ceiling as well. I know it can seem overwhelming to fully commit, but once you have it feels like a nice warm hug, and who doesn't like that?!

We used a lot of existing furniture in this space, including this dresser that has been in the family for over 100 years! It is a Russian chest that is very delicate, and we weren't sure the color of the finish would be able to get worked in, but it brings such history and warmth to the room! We reupholstered an existing ottoman that was paired with a chair in a different room as well!

We love the contrast of these pieces with the more modern chandelier too, but also love the common brass accents throughout the room!

We all went back and forth with how this room would be used. It turns out that they like to use this space in the evenings to read or watch TV, in a cozier space than their spacious open concept living and dining room. This is also their home office, and it turned out so beautifully!

Our original plan was darker blue walls, but we transitioned to the taupe colors with green undertones to create the English library club feel that they really wanted, and they weren't sure about the ceiling painted the same color until they saw it all come together!

Natural woven shades paired with chunky linen stationary panels completes the coziness of the space!

The built-in cabinets house a printer and a file cabinet drawer, and give them the sweetest little desk space over in the corner.

They love traveling to Africa, so we made sure to incorporate mementos of their travels into the shelving above the TV and desk area as well. We always love when clients have cool accessories and pieces with personal meaning that we can work into a space.

This project is a little more traditional than our typical work, but it posed such a fun, creative challenge that I know we all love as a team, and the clients have said they enjoy so much! I loved the use of color throughout the house to create very different moods, and the touches of history and life that these clients wanted to bring with them into this new space.
