Greenwich Distance Design Reveal Part 02

Today we're continuing our look at our East Coast Greenwich project! We're diving into the dining room, breakfast nook, and family room, and if you missed the first post from last week, have a look here . The bones of the dining room were so, so good, and gave us plenty of space to make this room inviting and fit for big family gatherings for the holidays. Some people might remember the dining table debacle - that was this house. I won't get into all the sordid details, but all that matters is that the dining table is in, it's gorgeous, and it's being enjoyed by a beautiful family! I'm still in love with the chairs after seeing these photos all over again - they were actually the first thing we chose for this room. They perfectly blend a more classic, traditional dining chair silhouette with a caned back that brings a bit of coastal charm. The same goes for the gorgeous beaded chandelier - a more traditional silhouette with the lightness of white beading that reminds us of the beach and collecting white rocks. We also used a really pretty steel blue grasscloth for the walls that gives such great texture and a bit of a dramatic moment. Adding the creamy colored draperies softened the space so beautifully, and we added brass hardware here as a counterpoint to the black drapery hardware throughout the house. We used brass accents, like this mirror, frame, and the base of these lamps, to tie the brass hardware cohesively into the rest of the room. This buffet keeps everything they need for big dinners close by, instead of having to walk back and forth from the kitchen. The bay window was begging for a bench, so we had to deliver! There's actually a floor vent here for their heater, so we designed this bench's toe kick with a fun pattern to still allow for heat circulation. A fun, striped fabric for the cushion, and some MND pillows completed the look as well. Their breakfast area didn't need too much, but they definitely could fit a slightly larger dining table in this area. We used this opportunity to bring in some dark, grounding chairs stained black to highlight the black hardware in the overhead pendant, the kitchen cabinet pulls, and the drapery hardware in the adjoining family room. They have two little ones, so we added chair pads that can be cleaned easily as well. We also switched the initial heavily grooved table top for one with a smoother surface to avoid the crumbs and food remnants that would inevitably get stuck after every meal. This family room is right off the kitchen and breakfast nook area, and where the family spends most of their time day to day. I love how much natural light they get throughout the day with these fabulous windows! Because the kids are in here all the time, we chose a darker sofa to conceal any messes they will create, and paired that gorgeous deep navy sofa with cream and blue patterned cushion accent chairs. The textured rug is so soft as well, and the kids can play on this with no worries. We continued the creamy draperies in this space, and paired them with motorized shades that open and close, depending on time of the day, automatically! With all of the natural sunlight they get in here, that's a seemingly small convenience that actually makes a big difference. These two poufs tucked underneath the console behind the sofa provide two more seats for TV watching when they have friends and family over, especially when a game is on and they need a few extra seats and table surface. This built-in bookcase and desk gave us the opportunity to infuse more natural woven textures and decor into the space to bring that West Coast influence into the mix too! At the end of the month, we'll wrap up this project by showing you the bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs, and I can't wait for you to see them!! Do you have a favorite space so far?
